New MACOG Staff Member Pursuing Regional AmeriCorps Program
MACOG is excited to announce planning is underway to fund and launch a new regional AmeriCorps program. The program will be designed to build regional capacity to address environmental sustainability goals and implement economic resilience strategies through AmeriCorps members. If awarded, MACOG would bring the first cohort of up to 15 AmeriCorps members on-board in the fall of 2022, who would serve with local governments and non-profits to advance our region’s capacity needs which may be related to broadband, high quality child care, tree canopy goals, and Climate Action Plans. AmeriCorps service is a great way to give back to the community while gaining valuable experience in public and non-profit sectors or a career in sustainability. Members can serve up to four one-year terms, receive a living allowance, benefits, and earn an education award to use towards public student loans or future educational expenses at accredited colleges/universities. The application will be available in 2022, but an Interest Form is available now at https://macog.com/americorps.html.
