MACOG Announces Available Section 5310 Funding for South Bend Urbanized Area Transportation Projects

Federal-section-5310-header

MACOG is designated as a recipient of Federal Transit Administration (FTA) funding for the Section 5310 "Enhanced Mobility of Seniors and Individuals with Disabilities" grant program. This program offers federal funding to support capital projects, such as securing vehicles, and operational funding for programs providing transportation to older individuals and those with disabilities.

Eligible recipients of Section 5310 funding include private not-for-profit organizations and authorized units of local government within the South Bend Urbanized Area. To be considered, projects must align with the Public Transit – Human Services Coordinated Plan for the Michiana region (available at www.macog.com). Vehicle purchasing projects require local matching funds of 20% of the total project cost, while operational funding assistance requires a local matching fund of 50%.

Grant applications are currently available online at https://macog.com/transportation.html#public_transit or by contacting MACOG directly. Organizations seeking funding under Section 5310 are invited to attend an Informational Meeting Session, with the option to join in-person or virtually, on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at 1:00 pm. The meeting will provide a general overview and offer an opportunity to ask questions about the Section 5310 grant funding and application process. It will take place at the MACOG office located in the County-City Building at 227 W. Jefferson Blvd, Rm. 1120. For those interested in attending virtually, please contact MACOG for further information. MACOG anticipates approximately $849,461 in federal assistance for this funding cycle.
