The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced that the Michiana Area Council of Governments (MACOG) is one of three Indiana recipients that will receive brownfields assessment funding in the latest round announced May 20^th, 2024.

MARSHALL COUNTY, IN – The Indiana Office of Energy Development awarded four local governments including Marshall County, City of Plymouth, City of Nappanee, and the Town of Walkerton a combined $578,987 or about 40% of the $1.47 million awarded by the agency through the federal Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant program.

This past week three recipients with significant achievements in clean air and sustainability were honored at MACOG's 2024 Partners for Clean Air Awards Luncheon. Award winners included Valmont Industries, Inc.; The Beacon Resource Center, Inc.; and South Bend Public Transportation Corporation (Transpo).

Significant achievements in clean air and sustainability were honored Wednesday in Elkhart at Michiana Area Council of Governments’ (MACOG) 2024 Partners for Clean Air Awards Luncheon.

MACOG is designated as a recipient of Federal Transit Administration (FTA) funding for the Section 5310 "Enhanced Mobility of Seniors and Individuals with Disabilities" grant program.

Kelsey Triebold is a member of MACOG’s 2023-2024 AmeriCorps cohort serving at MACOG’s office in downtown South Bend. Kelsey is serving as a Clean Energy and Transportation Fellow with the sustainability team.

Alexa is a member of MACOG’s AmeriCorps cohort of 2023 serving with the City of Goshen’s Department of Environmental Resilience.

Brian Exner is a member of MACOG’s first AmeriCorps cohort serving with MACOG at enFocus. Brian is focusing on providing capacity to the UpskillSB program which provides residents of South Bend with certifications to improve their career potential.

Jordan Derouin and Lia Franzone are members of MACOG’s first AmeriCorps Cohort serving with the St. Joseph River Basin Commission this summer. They take weekly surface water samples at 10 sites in Steuben County along waterways that are upstream of the St. Joseph River.
