MACOG has released an amendment for the Michiana on The Move: 2050 Transportation Plan and corresponding Transportation Conformity Determination Report for public comment and review.

Christian Zeser was a member of MACOG’s second AmeriCorps cohort serving with MACOG at the Elkhart Environmental Center. Tasks included leading student groups on tours, large-scale invasive species removal, assistance in planning Environmental Center events, and leading events such as a birding walk.

The U.S. Department of Transportation announced that the Michiana Area Council of Governments (MACOG), partnering with St. Joseph County will receive $1 million from the Railroad Crossing Elimination Program for a rail crossing study at Ash Road and other nearby grade-crossings (Apple, Beech, and Cottage Grove) along the Norfolk Southern Railway.

New officers have been elected to serve on the Michiana Area Council of Governments (MACOG) Policy Board, the organizations’ governing board, for calendar year 2025.

As businesses in the area continue to grow and commute costs continue to increase, the Michiana Area Council of Governments (MACOG) is creating improvements to the transit system to attract workers to the area while reducing expenses for commuters.

Mallory Magee was a member of MACOG’s second AmeriCorps cohort serving with MACOG at City of Plymouth. After serving this past summer, Mallory continues her education in college and shares that "My AmeriCorps service with the City of Plymouth has allowed me to pursue my interest in local government and policy.

Heather Smith was a member of MACOG’s second AmeriCorps cohort serving with MACOG at Green Bridge Growers. She brought her long background in farming and was eager to try something new: an aquaponic system.

Megan Shank was a member of MACOG’s second AmeriCorps summer cohort serving with MACOG at Shirley Heinze Land Trust. Megan focused on the education side of what goes into a land trust.

In early November, 223 Indiana cities, towns, and counties received nearly $140 million in state matching funds for local road projects through Community Crossings, a component of the Governor’s Next Level Roads program.
