MACOG Awarded Federal Planning Grant to close 11-mile Mishawaka to Elkhart Gap
The U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) announced that the Michiana Area Council of Governments (MACOG) will receive $816,800 from the Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) program for a project “Connecting the Crossway Trails Spine: Mishawaka to Elkhart Trail.”
MACOG Opens Online Survey for Transportation Safety Plan
In 2023 MACOG secured a Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) grant to create a Regional Transportation Safety Action Plan. The SS4A project will identify and prioritize approaches to eliminate roadway fatalities and serious injuries within the four-county MACOG region (Elkhart, Kosciusko, Marshall, and St. Joseph).
MACOG Receives $1.5M from U.S. EPA to Continue Tackling Brownfields
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced that the Michiana Area Council of Governments (MACOG) is one of three Indiana recipients that will receive brownfields assessment funding in the latest round announced May 20th, 2024.
Rural MACOG Communities Receive Funding to Pilot Electric Vehicles
MARSHALL COUNTY, IN – The Indiana Office of Energy Development awarded four local governments including Marshall County, City of Plymouth, City of Nappanee, and the Town of Walkerton a combined $578,987 or about 40% of the $1.47 million awarded by the agency through the federal Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant program.

Jordan Derouin and Lia Franzone are members of MACOG’s first AmeriCorps Cohort serving with the St. Joseph River Basin Commission this summer. They take weekly surface water samples at 10 sites in Steuben County along waterways that are upstream of the St. Joseph River.

Brandon is a member of the biological monitoring team, which collects and identifies aquatic insects to lean information on water quality throughout the twelve tributaries of the St. Joseph River.
